AJAY K. MASIH

Physician

Dr. Ajay K. Masih is a highly skilled physiatrist with a comprehensive educational background. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of California, Los Angeles, before pursuing his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. Dr. Masih completed a transitional internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California, followed by a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern University Medical School, located at the renowned Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, consistently recognized as a top-ranked rehabilitation hospital by USA Today.

Further enhancing his expertise, Dr. Masih undertook fellowship training in Spine, Sports, and Occupational Medicine at Buffalo Spine and Sports Medicine in Buffalo, New York. During his fellowship, he gained specialized skills in interventional spine procedures, electrodiagnostic techniques, and manual medicine.

Dr. Masih is an active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) and the North American Spine Society (NASS), reflecting his commitment to advancing the field.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Dr. Masih enjoys quality time with his family and stays active through sports, including tennis, snow skiing, and golf, embodying a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Apexa Patel

PA-C

Apexa is our board-certified Physician Assistant at Center for Spine and Sports Rehabilitation Medicine. With extensive experience in orthopedics and sports medicine, she is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Apexa earned a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Lincoln Memorial University and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Georgia. She has worked at Cedars Sinai Orthopedics in Los Angeles, where she specialized in shoulder, elbow, knee, and general sports medicine, managing new patients and assisting in surgeries. Prior to that, she gained valuable experience at Resurgens Orthopaedics in Atlanta, focusing on upper extremity issues and providing comprehensive care for acute and chronic orthopedic conditions.

In addition to her clinical skills, Apexa is a certified athletic trainer and is proficient in joint injections, trigger point injections, and interpreting x-rays. She is passionate about helping patients achieve their rehabilitation goals and is always eager to learn new techniques and approaches.

Outside of work, Apexa enjoys hiking, being outdoors, traveling, and dancing which reflects her commitment to an active and balanced lifestyle.

Dr. Ajay K. Masih graduated from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. He received his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. He completed a transitional internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, San Jose, California. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation through Northwestern University Medical School at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, which is the top-ranked Rehabilitation Hospital as ranked by USA Today. He has completed fellowship training in Spine, Sports, and Occupational Medicine at Buffalo Spine and Sports Medicine in Buffalo, New York. As part of his fellowship, he has received training in interventional spine procedures, electrodiagnostic procedures, manual medicine techniques and ultrasound examination.

He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) and the North American Spine Society (NASS).

As a physiatrist, Dr. Ajay K. Masih specializes in comprehensive, non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal and pain disorders. He employs a functional approach to injury prevention and diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Rather than treating only the affected areas, he strives to personalize rehabilitation of his patients’ entire musculoskeletal system as a whole. Dr. Masih’s mission is not only to decrease pain, but also return patients back to their normal daily activities so they can focus on living a healthy lifestyle. Our team at the Center for Spine and Sports Rehabilitation is committed to providing the highest quality of care.

Dr. Masih is also trained in electrodiagnostic studies and ultrasound.
